Locator Attachment System
The LOCATOR Implant Abutment System is arguably the World’s most popular implant attachment system. Specifically designed for full-arch or partial overdentures, the LOCATOR Abutment system pivots and self-aligns to assure proper insertion, removal, and retention during function.
LOCATOR THE SIMPLE SOLUTION
Easy to insert and remove by your patients, LOCATOR Attachments are designed with customizable levels of retention and a low vertical profile. Most important, however, is its innovative ability to pivot, which increases the attachment's resiliency and tolerance for the high mastication forces an attachment must withstand, allows it to compensate for the path of insertion even with up to 40 degrees of divergence between implants, and provides exceptional durability. This patented pivoting action, along with the attachment's self-aligning design, also provides ease of seating the denture by the patient.
The LOCATOR Implant Attachment with patented pivoting technology is the premier system for implant-retained overdentures. According to recent studies, a two implant-retained, tissue-supported overdenture restoration is considered the new minimum standard of care for edentulous patients. More than two implants may also be placed for an implant-supported overdenture.
When a case calls for an overdenture bar, the LOCATOR Bar Attachment provides the same pivoting technology, self-aligning feature, superb retention, and exceptional durability, all in a low-profile design. It also offers three options for the fabrication of a resilient attachment on an implant-supported cast alloy or milled titanium bar.
In clinical situations where healthy tooth roots can be prepared for placement of attachments to retain an overdenture, the LOCATOR Root Attachment delivers great versatility. Its supra-radicular design gives you the choice of a straight post and 10- and 20-degree angles to accommodate divergent roots, as well as a special cast-to version.

PIVOTING VS. NON-PIVOTING
With the LOCATOR Attachment, the pivoting ability of the LOCATOR Males and the Denture Cap at various points during seating and in function deliver a host of benefits including self-aligning ability, angulation versatility, greater resiliency and exceptional durability. The Denture Cap's ability to gently pivot in any direction over the male accommodates the natural movements during occlusion and the pliancy of the soft tissue supporting the overdenture, providing greater resiliency and keeping it from dislodging. Patients are able to enjoy a normal, comfortable chewing function and unparalleled confidence in the secure fit of their overdenture. Compare this with attachments that don't pivot. Without the pivoting action, the overdenture is locked in a static hold. As the patient is chewing, the attachment can easily disengage because of the opposing forces of occlusion.
During seating, while the LOCATOR Male pivots inside the Denture Cap, the system's self-aligning design centers the male on the attachment before engagement. These two actions in concert allow the LOCATOR to self-align into place, enabling patients to easily seat their overdenture without the need for accurate alignment and without causing damage to the attachment components. This self-aligning feature also increases the durability of the LOCATOR Attachment.
The LOCATOR Male remains in static contact with the attachment while the Denture Cap, which is processed into the overdenture, has a full range of rotational movement over the male for a genuine resilient connection of the prosthesis without any resulting loss of retention.
Both the LOCATOR's pivoting technology and its dual retention feature that includes inside and outside retention ensure long-lasting performance of the attachment, as shown by an independent laboratory test comparing the LOCATOR to the Stern ERA implant attachment during 60,000 cycles of function.
LOWEST VERITCAL HEIGHT
the overdenture, has a full range of rotational movement over the male for a genuine resilient connection of the prosthesis without any resulting loss of retention.
Cuff height, thread diameter and thread length vary by implant system.
LOCATOR IMPLANT ATTACHMENTS
LOCATOR DENTURE CAP AND BLACK PROCESSING MALE
LOCATOR implant abutments should be ordered to the exact height of the gingival measurement.
The LOCATOR Implant abutment has a built in additional 1.5mm of height. This 1.5mm allows the male attachment to fully seat on to the abutment.
Please do not add 1.5mm to your measurements.
The LOCATOR Overdenture Implant System (LODI)
Until now, choosing a narrow diameter implant often meant a sacrifice in attachment performance and ultimately patient satisfaction. In order to provide patients with the quality of care that they desire, an increasing number of clinicians are now recognizing the unique benefits of using the next generation of narrow diameter implants for retaining overdentures.
The LOCATOR Overdenture Implant System (LODI) comes complete with the world's leading overdenture attachment. LODI has answered clinician requests and patient demands for a less invasive, more predictable and cost conscious technique for securing dentures.
The LODI system now allows you to treat patients with the minimum standard of care of an implant supported overdenture, at a reduced cost and with greater satisfaction.
Implants less than 3mm in diameter can be the best option in overdenture cases based on key criteria.
Does the patient have adequate bone for conventional implants? Are there considerations for minimizing surgical invasiveness? Are there patient financial considerations?
The LODI is designed to provide a specialty overdenture implant /attachment option where narrow ridges, minimized surgical invasiveness and financial considerations play a role in the implant choice and where a superior overdenture attachment can be utilized with no compromise.
3mm difference in height! Less discomfort to patient when not wearing denture O-Ball true one-piece can wear throughout time and then what? Must vary placement protocol due to one size fits all design vs. ability to select different cuff heights.
NO MORE COMPROMISE
Key weaknesses of true one-piece O-Ball SDIs which can compromise patient care and satisfaction, future referrals and positive word of mouth.
Limitation in ability for draw with divergent implants Wear of o-rings and the high chairside maintenance requirement. Potential devastating issue of attachment (ball) wear on an integrated implant.

The new shade of strength and LOCATOR innovation.
Strength meets function in the innovative new LOCATOR R-Tx. Composed of multiple layers of titanium carbon nitride and titanium nitride, the patent pending DuraTec Coating provides a harder, more wear resistant Abutment exterior. In fact, it's over 30% harder, has more than 25% greater wear resistance, and possesses a nearly 65% reduction in surface roughness than ZESTs already industry-leading titanium nitride coating.
Increased strength is complemented by an aesthetic gingiva tone, but is distinct enough to provide proper visibility for the patient. It all adds up to a revolutionary combination thats not available in any other Abutment on the market today.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND DURATEC
- DuraTec Titanium Carbon Nitride Coating is aesthetic, harder, and more wear resistant.
THE NEW DRIVE MECHANISM
- Industry standard .050/1.25mm* hex drive mechanism simplifies placement. Smaller center cavity reduces area for food and plaque accumulation.

LOCATOR R-Tx Retention Insert
The magic of LOCATOR has been that the Nylon Retention Insert pivots within the Denture Attachment Housing during insertion/removal, resulting in a resilient system that has allowed patients to seat their overdenture without damaging the components, even in the presence of divergence or convergence between implants.
NARROWER CORONAL GEOMETRY
The dual engaging geometry of the Abutment offers a narrower leading edge and taper-like effect to allow the patient to more easily align and properly seat the overdenture.
CUSTOM RETENTION INSERT TOOL
Dual-sided tool for easy insertion and removal of the LOCATOR R-Tx Retention Insert. Metal Slot Feature on the back of the Tool Handle allows the clinician to disengage a Retention Insert without the risk of tearing gloves.
Patented modifications to the Denture Attachment Housing now allow the Housing to pivot up to 30 over the seated LOCATOR R-Tx Nylon Retention Inserts to treat a maximum of 60 convergence/divergence between implants, eliminating the need for pre-angled abutments.
- PRACTICAL DENTURE ATTACHMENT HOUSING DESIGN
- EFFICIENT ABUTMENT/INSERT ENGAGEMENT
- NEW RETENTION INSERT DESIGN
Horizontal grooves and flats resist vertical and rotational movement, and a channel inside the top of the Housing enhances pivot range of motion. New pink anodization improves aesthetics in areas of thin denture acrylic.
The Nylon Retention Inserts now engage dual retentive surfaces on the exterior of the Abutment. No internal engagement prevents debris and plaque accumulation within the drive mechanism from impacting proper seating of overdenture.
Improved design resists edge deformation. Simplicity is also top of mind the system utilizes only one set of Retention Inserts with straightforward retention values Zero, Low, Medium, High.

LOCATOR BAR ATTACHMENTS
This section contains a number of dental abutment products that support the dental implant procedure process including impression copings, analogs and dental implant tools.
Dental Impression Copings are used to duplicate the shape and position of the dental implant abutment interface during the impression process in order to precisely position the implant analog in the working model.
Dental Analog mimics a patient’s implant position. It is established by taking an impression of the patient’s teeth and existing implants and utilizing that impression to make an exact duplicate which precisely shows the shape to reference in the patient’s mouth.
These drivers go direct from a square drive & latch-type connection torque wrench to the LOCATOR Implant Abutment. They allow direct torque tightening of the LOCATOR Implant Abutments. (NOTE: minimum 20 Ncm is required while optimum seating force / torque value of 30Ncm will help prevent screw loosening of the LOCATOR Implant Abutment).
